Our Story

St Clements emerged as a response to the major electricity privatisation process carried out in Great Britain in the late 1980s. Initially populated by consultants from PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), the Company then evolved its own in-house expertise. Since then we have continued to carve out a specific niche in the electricity and gas industries where domain knowledge, technical skill and our approach of building communities of like-minded customers provide us with an enduring advantage.

History of St Clements

1989
PwC provides consultancy and software development services (including the Electricity Contracts Management System – ECMS) to the Regional Electricity Companies leading up to privatisation and the introduction of the Electricity Pool.

Company established and later (April 1990) renamed as St Clements Services.
1990
Company gains exemption from the 1976 Restrictive Trades Practices Act to allow joint representation of the Regional Electricity Companies within a competitive market.
1991
First General Manager appointed and permanent staff appointments begin as PwC are transitioned out.
1991
1991-1995
Provision of Electricity Pool consultancy services, further development of ECMS and development of the LAMP unmetered supplies product.
1996
1996-1998
Development and implementation of the Metering Point Registration System (MPRS), to support the major industry programme introducing competition into domestic electricity supply.
2001
Company reorganisation as industry consultancy services are ceased and St Clements becomes focussed purely on software.
2002
2002-2004
New SONET product developed to cater for New Electricity Trading Arrangements (NETA); ECMS retired.

In-house development team established, replacing previous out-source arrangements. This bucks the industry trend somewhat but delivers improved quality and much greater flexibility and responsiveness.
2007
First iteration of DUoS Billing product (DURABILL) delivered.
2010
First DNO implementation of DURABILL.
2012
LAMP retired.

New product CLAVA (CVA meter validation for DNOs) created and implemented.
2014
Development of GINA gas settlements validation prototype completed.
2016
First full-scale version of GINA completed.
2017
The new gas industry NEXUS arrangements go live and GINA commences active operation.
2019
Work commences on the industry Faster Switching programme.
2020
All DNOs now operational on DURABILL.
2022
Faster Switching go-live with MPRS.
2025
Completion of major re-writes of MPRS, DURABILL and SONET for Market-wide Half Hourly Settlements go-live.
