SONET

This system enables electricity supply companies to validate settlement volumes and charges made under the NETA Balancing Mechanism and Imbalance Settlements trading rules. The product is focused on those companies who treat settlement risk as a serious issue and has recently been upgraded to incorporate all of the features formerly provided by a separate St Clements product – ECMS (Energy Contracts Management System).

The integrated product validates both CVA and SVA supply volumes by BM Unit under the NETA trading arrangements introduced in March 2001 to provide user confidence in the correctness of total supply volumes. In addition, all NETA settlement charges levied on the company by BSC Party are validated. The system manages data for multiple suppliers in a company organisation linked to one or more BSC Parties.

As part of its new modular design, SONET also provides supply companies with the facility to validate their Distribution Use of System (DUoS) bills from distributors and to validate total GSP Group Take volumes for any GSP Group in England and Wales either as part of the settlement data validation process or as a service to a distribution business.

The product is regularly updated in line with industry changes and operates fully within the British Electricity Trading and Transmission Arrangements (BETTA).

SONET is available on a commercial basis to new supply companies entering the market either as a complete package or in modules as required.
